Project 365 1-15 through 1-23-2013

Oh my goodness! I have really fallen behind. Not because I am not out there taking pictures, but because I havent had time to post them here on my blog. I am going to break it up into a couple of posts so I dont overwhelm you with my shots :)  Here are a few pictures taken each day. Look for the rest in the next couple of days. Hopefully I will catch up and get back to posting at least once a week.

1-15
Some Canadian Geese flying over the water. One of the few days of sunshine we have had!
1-16
Another goose shot.
1-17
Crow. Almost a natural black and white.
1-18
Berries in ice and snow.
1-19
Yet another Goose shot. Are you sick of them yet?
1-20
The north side of all the trees, coated with snow from the wind.
1-21
Lonely leaf floating in air.
1-22
Little sparrow huddling in the branches to keep warm.
1-23
Yet another snow storm, deer in my daughters yard in the greenbelt in the middle of our city.

See you in a couple days. Thanks for visiting.

Project 365 1-10 - 1-14-13

A few more pictures to show you for my Project 365 photo challenge. I like doing them in bigger groups, but I am taking a picture (or many) everyday, all on manual. I am also doing some very mild editing. I am taking an online Photoshop Elements class right now, but Im not very far into it yet, so dont look for anything too earth-shaking editing wise! Here are my pictures:

1-10-13
Frozen water droplets on my daughters evergreens.

1-11-13
My first macro snowflake of the year.

1-12-13
Local park that I spend lots of time in. We got a fresh layer of snow so I had to capture it.

1-14-13
YES! Today we finally had some sun!

Enjoy your week!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 01-12-13

I had a little extra time this week, so I decided to participate in Ashley Sisk's Scavenger Hunt Sunday. This is one of my favorite photo challenges. I like it because Ashley picks a list of 5 photo prompts, and I get to take a photo that I think fits that prompt. It makes me think outside the box, and I like that. The photo prompts for this week are:

OUTSIDE
BACKSIDE
LITTLE THINGS
A CUP OF....
REFLECT

OUTSIDE
I sat outside hoping to get a decent shot of one of my favorite birds. Are you sick of my birds in flight
shots yet? I hope not because the are one of my favorite things to shoot. Red bellied Woodpecker.

BACKSIDE
Tried to get a picture of a cute little bunny in the yard. All he wanted me to get was his backside.

LITTLE THINGS
My sweet little Grandson Brady. I love you!

A CUP OF...
I take a cup of tea to bed with me every night. Nothing is better than reading while sipping tea at the
end of the day.

REFLECT
One of my favorite shots of the week. I was driving along the river when I spotted 2 swans. I
liked how the swan was reflected in this shot as well as the trees around it.

Focus on Life Week 2

52 week badge
This is the second week for the Focus on Life photo challenge. This weeks prompt is "My Word". I thought long and hard and decided to make BALANCE my word for 2013.

bal·ance

[bal-uh ns]  Show IPA noun, verb, bal·anced, bal·anc·ing.
noun
1.
a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weightamount, etc.
2.
something used to produce equilibrium; counterpoise.
3.
mental steadiness or emotional stability; habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc.
4.
a state of bodily equilibrium: He lost his balance and fell down the stairs.
5.
an instrument for determining weight, typically by the equilibrium of a bar with a fulcrum at thecenter, from each end of which is suspended a scale or pan, one holding an object of known weight, and the other holding the object to be weighed.

Number 3 of the definition is my goal for this year. I want to obtain Balance in many ways. I would love to better balance my time between family and friends, housework and hobbies, happiness and sadness. I chose a picture from my archives that I though best represented my word. Have a great week.

Project 365 1-04 - 1-09-2013

I have been a little busy, so I thought I would save a few pictures up and post a group of them at a time rather than annoy everyone with my daily posts :) The sun has been out and today it was almost 40 degrees, so I decided to go for a nature walk. The way out was great, but the way back was right into the wind. My face is a bit windburned, but I feel pretty good about being out in the fresh air. Enjoy the rest of your week.

1-04
Found this dried milkweed with most of its seeds intact.

1-05
Red tailed Hawk, one of my favorite birds. Used the rule of thirds on this one.

1-06
Birch trees next to the water.

1-07
Red Squirrel, another rule of thirds shot.

1-08
Pretty clouds, great to have the sun!

1-09

Red bellied Woodpecker

See you soon! Thanks for looking

Focus On Life Week 1

Yes, another photography Challenge! This one is a weekly challenge where the Hostess sets the theme for the week and we post our interpretation on our blogs. This weeks prompt was not a favorite for me. It is "Self Portrait". Yuck. I love to take pictures, but HATE having mine taken. I don't have any idea why, but even as a child, I avoided the camera at all cost. One good thing about having it the first week is, it's out of the way! Anyway, here is my self portrait. Yes, I am a tree hugger!

Project 365 01-03-12

Another gloomy gray day here in Wisconsin, This is a picture of my Daughters (Jess) deck showing the snow and gloom. I decided to make it even gloomier by adding texture and making it a black and white. Thanks for looking!

Project 365 1-02-13

The weather has been so gray and gloomy here. Today we actually have some sunshine! I decided to take a drive and go to one of my happy places. I noticed these weeds along the river bed and walked over to take a couple shots. It is simple, but I love the look of the frozen water behind the weeds. See you tomorrow :)

Project 365 1-01-13

I may be nuts, but I am going to try taking a picture a day for the next year and then posting it on my blog! Im not exactly sure I will do a post a day, but may do a post a week containing 7 pictures. Anyway, here is my post for today!
