Focus on Life Weeks 7 & 8

Week 8 already! Yes, I have skipped a few weeks, but I promise, I will get caught up. I'm not going to make excuses (I already did on my 365 post) I am just going to try to be better and more timely. No guarantees though :) This is week 8's picture, scroll down further for week 7.

MONOCHROMATIC
Gorgeous Daisy my Daughter Courtney and Grand Daughter Kileigh gave me for Valentines Day. I am really starting to love Black and Whites. Took this with my 100 Macro lens. Project 365 1-30 through 2-10-13

Oh my! I have really fallen behind on my posting. Lots of excuses, sick, busy, sick, lazy....you get the idea! I am still taking lots of pictures, but taking them and posting them are 2 different things. Here is my feeble attempt to get caught up! I need to get caught up. Thanks for looking! Here are a few days worth of pictures.
1-30-13
Kileighs 5th Birthday, nothing make a kid happier than birthday gifts, bowling, pizza and cake! Love you so much Kileigh. Happy Birthday.

1-31-13
 Little bit of snow.

2-1-13
Hawk visiting my backyard! Coopers Hawk I think?

2-2-13
Squirrel in the tree. As long as he wasn't looking at me, he thought I couldnt see him.

2-3-13
I liked these weeds and frozen water as a B&W

2-4-13
At least we have had some sun in between snow storms.

2-5-13
Liked the pop of the red sign against the snowy backdrop.

2-6-13
I liked how there was an open space because of the branches sticking out of the water.

2-7-13
 Chickadee

2-8-13
 Icicles

2-9-13
Sun!! Love the warmth and the sparkle of the water behind the grasses.

2-10-13
Lyrics collar and name tag. Sadly, she will never get to wear it. She went for an eye tacking Tuesday 2-19 at 6 weeks of age and didnt wake up from the anesthetic. RIP sweet little angel. Run free with Maddux at the Rainbow Bridge.

Well, there you have it! Still not caught up but a heck of a lot less farther behind than I was.

Nurture Photography Week 2

This weeks prompt for Nurture Photography is WHITE/MINIMALISM. I could do the obvious and post a picture of all of the snow we have been getting. Nah! Instead I am posting this shot of Graveyard Head Stones! I really like this shot. I like the depth of field, the bokeh, the gray skies. The original color of the stone is white. They are well weathered and the patina is so pretty, despite the subject matter. These graves were dated in the early 1800's. What a difference between them and the marble headstones used today. Thanks for stopping by!

Project 365 1-24 through 1-29-2013

Another week (almost) of pictures for the Project 365 photo challenge. I am slowly but surely getting caught up on this challenge. As you will see by my pictures below, we have had nothing but snow and gray skies for days on end. Makes for challenging conditions for photography, as well as a short supply of interesting things to capture with my camera. My focus for this challenge is nature. I want the majority of my shots to be inspired by the outdoors. Dont get me wrong, I love taking shots of my family too, but my calling is the outdoors. Enjoy your week, thanks for stopping by!

1-24
Sienna. She will be 8 in April. She loves to run in the snow and bulldoze it into her mouth! Such a sweet girl.

1-25
Some signs of life in the woods! Little fungus pushing up through the moss on a log. Makes me long for spring.

1-26
Everything is gray and dead.

1-27
As I said, gray skies! 1 little goose looks like he doesnt know where he fits in!

1-28
We had sun for a day, things actually began to melt! The next day? Back to 17 degrees! Thats Wisconsin for you!

1-29
View from my daughter Jess's deck. Lots of snow.

See you in a couple days!

Nurture Photography 2-06-13

I decided to participate in this month long Photography Challenge. This weeks prompt is Black/Shadows. Its been a slow month for me photography wise, I have had lots to do and havent been able to squeeze in too much time for me. For this weeks photo, I decided to use a shot I took last month. Here it is:
I really like this shot of a dead thistle with the icy water in the background. The black of the thistle silhouette really pops against the bokeh of the water in the background. I am thinking of doing this one on a canvas for my hobby room. I am planning on having black & white shots in that room. This one is a natural black and white.

Thanks for visiting!! Your comments make my day.

Focus on Life Week 5

This weeks prompt was Capture our Hearts. We were supposed to find a heart in an unexpected place. I took a walk at one of my favorite places. While walking along the river and the boat launch, I spotted a heart shape on one of the posts that surround the boat launch. It is true, hearts are everywhere, you just have to open your eyes and look for the unexpected!

CAPTURE OUR HEARTS

I know I am a couple weeks behind, but I am hoping to get caught up next week. Seems to be a theme of mine this year!! Enjoy your week.
